Ex-Scotland Yard commander Ali Dizaei is to face a trial next yearFormer Metropolitan Police commander Ali Dizaei is to be given his job back after he won an appeal against his dismissal.
Mr Dizaei, 48, was sacked after being jailed in February 2010 for misconduct and perverting the course of justice.
But the Court of Appeal overturned his convictions in May and the Iranian-born officer was released from jail.
It is understood the Police Appeals Tribunal ruled on Thursday that Mr Dizaei should be reinstated.
However, the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) is likely to decide that Mr Dizaei be suspended until after his re-trial next year.
Mr Dizaei’s lawyers said he will consider challenging his suspension in the courts, arguing many senior white police staff have been allowed to stay in their posts while criminal investigations take place.
The MPA said it had “no comment at this time”.
