The background to the Baha Mousa inquiry
An Iraqi man died after suffering an “appalling episode of serious gratuitous violence” in a “very serious breach of discipline” by UK soldiers, an inquiry has found.
Hotel worker Baha Mousa died with 93 injuries in British army custody in Basra in 2003.
Sir William Gage has heard from 348 witnesses during the year-long inquiry.
The Ministry of Defence has said it would consider carefully any recommendations from the inquiry.
