Lockerbie bomber “at death’s door” in Libya: report (Reuters)
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Libyan convicted in the December 1988 bombing of a U.S.-bound airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland has been found in Tripoli and appears “at death’s door,” CNN reported on Sunday.
A CNN correspondent said he found Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in a house in Tripoli. “He’s stopped eating and sometimes he’s in a coma,” a man who was identified as Megrahi’s son told CNN in an interview.
Scottish authorities said several days ago that they had lost contact with Megrahi during the chaotic conditions caused by Libyan rebels’ climactic push to oust long-time ruler Muammar Gaddafi.
