WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama vowed on Thursday to seek the “toughest sanctions” against Iran over an alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, and said the United States would not take any options off the table.

Obama, in his first public statement on the matter, called it part of a “pattern of dangerous and reckless behavior” by Tehran, which has denied the accusations. He was speaking at a joint news conference with the visiting South Korean president.
