Tank attack on Syria’s Hama kills 300 civilians: group (Reuters)

AMMAN (Reuters) – A six-day tank assault on the Syrian city of Hama to crush pro-democracy demonstrations has killed at least 300 civilians, an activists’ organization said on Friday, quoting refugees from the city.

The Local Coordination Committees said many of those who died from their wounds could have survived if it was not for lack of blood for transfusions or the inability to transport them to hospitals because of heavy shelling on main residential neighborhoods by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces.
